The idea was to have a place for local traders/ merchants to sell their niche wares where visitors can also be entertained and inspired by the environment. Like what Queen Victoria’s Market is to Melbournians.
Only this is Singapore, one of Asia’s more technologically-advanced and uber organized countries, and the PasarBella is undoubtedly an urban magnet with modern amenities for city folks to rekindle with “old school basics” (read ‘upscaled retro’).
The name itself is a mashup between two words: Pasar (Malay) = Market, Bella (Italian) = Beautiful.
PasarBella is indeed inspiring.
Its magnetism is quite palpable.
It’s like the Millennium Falcon being pulled into Death Star…
