MelGaBon Parte Tre

Posted on Updated on

I didn’t think this fiesta would be possible within three years, but HEY! I’m sooo far from complaining!! Shall I begin with a quick definition as per my earlier entry?

“First off: What in Hey is MelGaBon?”

Melbourne Gastronomic Bonanza!!

Such a mouthful, innit?
You’re welcome🙂

This time around, I get to play the role of the Foodie Tour Guide to the familia and boy, did they enjoy munching all over town! Felt like an army of Pac-Man (Men?) going through a maze filled with energy blobs. Tee Hee!

The Waffle Club @ Queen Victoria Market

Safe to say, the main reason we dropped by VicMar was to experience Souvenir & Produce shopping. The Grandmas had a list to tick off, and so did the teens. And we TRAWLED every aisle, gawping (is that even a word? mash up between gawking and window-shopping?) at the targeted items. Thank goodness they had their own methods of remembering where the “highly regarded” stalls were coz I needed to find a spot and rest my feet!

As usual, empty tummies began growling and we found a simple set up near the entrance to the parking lot:

Aaaah... thank god for stools!! And FOOD!

This was Not mine... I was too hungry to even take a photo of my order!

Pretty much permutations of fruits and nuts on waffles. Good enough to appease the gastric juices that threatened the shopping pace at VicMar🙂

Rating: Decent Yums.

Brunetti’s @ Lygon

Since my last visit in 2010, Brunetti’s had vacated their old premises and moved into a swanky location, complete with off-the-hook interior and much bigger space.

It was my first opportunity to introduce that lethal-nondescript Vanilla Square to the family, BUT they were ALL SOLD OUT by the time we arrived at 9:45pm… which is rather “early” for a cuppa @ Brunetti’s. We settled for a few no-less-luscious desserts to satisfy our sweet tooth:

Good enough introduction of pastries galore... the hunt for VSq begins.

No doubt the new digs look swanky and there are more tables (still not enough!) for salivating customers, but I must say the ambiance of the previous place was missing. Big Time.

Rating: Above Decent Yum

Forgive-Me-I-Forgot-Your-Store-Name @ Sassafras

Very, very embarrassing!! SORRY!! It’s situated next the Tea Leaves store. This is my second visit to Sassafras, hoping to get a table in Miss Marples’ Tea House. Guess what? Can’t get a table YET AGAIN!

However, we managed to get a table in the neighboring dining spot and were very happy with the spread!

OK, we were rather famished by the time we ordered our food and practically wolfed down everything within 30 minutes or so. But, they were very filling and scrumptious and was happy that The Familia was happy🙂

Rating: Close to Redonkulous Level
Costco @ Docklands

Hey, don’t knock on Costco’s pizza because:

THIS pièce de résistance knocked the ratings indicator out of the park!
