Plan It Forward: M Boutique Hotel in Idyllic Ipoh

Posted on Updated on

Since our last Mother-Apprentice (a.k.a MothApp) vacation in Seoul, we hadn’t gone on any out-of-town trips save the occasional “Inspiration Break” to our favorite jaunt at Publika. Even that has been somewhat sporadic. Having seen a couple of photos posted on my friend’s FB page, an idea crossed my mind that I could make a MothApp trip to Ipoh, primarily to experience a boutique hotel in Malaysia.

Why? Simply because the interior fit-out was BANGING!

Sadly, I’ve yet to come across one in Kuala Lumpur that can be considered as boutique hotel. So, I was willing to drive 2.5 hrs north of KL just to inhale the environment!

However, thanks to serendipity (i.e. no-water crisis at home), we left a night earlier than our planned one-night stay at M Boutique and departed for Ipoh at 2000hrs. Okay, we can do two nights in the quiet “Retirement Town”.

Having Tiger JK, Yoon Mirae, Mamamoo and Apprentice keeping me company, we safely arrived at our destination at 2230hrs. Thank goodness traffic was rather light going North that evening.

So, imagine us unfurling our legs out of the car, stretching our tired selves and walked into this…

Oh. Emm. Gee.
Jaws dropped to the floor… and dragged as we made our way to confirm that this was INDEED the hotel lobby…

I suddenly experienced some visual challenges because my eyes were roaming EVERYWHERE, absorbing and cataloging every little thing within that space. Apprentice was indeed as gobsmacked as I was. NOTHING like this existed in our corner of the peninsula!

Pretty sure I was mumbling something intelligent with the receptionist but my eyes were on auto-scanning mode…

“Madam, your room card key is in this pack, along with the the wifi password. You need to stop by at the reception in the morning to get your vouchers for the complimentary breakfast. Lifts are to your left. Enjoy your stay”
MBH_04
The acrylic panel over the elevator buttons is the floor signage. Minimizing the need to place it elsewhere…
MBH_06
This is how they indicate each room… with worklamp bolted onto the wall. Others were described as The Twins, The Queen, and so forth.
MBH_07
Room may be small (with no windows) but they make it up with the luxurious bedlinens. Sigh.

MBH_08
Wardrobe area is essentially three sections: left – Safe, centre – rail with hangers, right – minibar with complimentary bottles of water and local instant coffee.
MBH_09
They certainly paid attention to details… hand-made soap encased in jute pouch.

MBH_10
Towels were fluffy!
MBH_11
Robes were big enough for yours truly! YEAH!
MBH_12
Did i just upload these bottles too?! Yes. They are superstars in their own right because this Verbena trio ain’t typical. At. All… and they’re not for sale either.
MBH_13
Ok people! High time I cleaned up and dive into that very inviting bed. Re-charge for fabulous day out tomorrow with Apprentice (who is still busy snapping away all over the room).

I swear, that Verbena collection will fly off the shelves at Mach 3 if they were made available at the M Store next to the lobby… 😉

Hello There! We do have plans to sell our bathroom amenities, but they are in such demand from our guests, we don’t have enough supplies! Anyhow, thanks for dropping by M Boutique Hotel and we hope that you had enjoyed your stay! Cheers from the M Boutique Family!
