Chapter 1: Immersing the Hip in Idyllic Ipoh – M Boutique Hotel

Posted on Updated on

Sleeping in a room with no windows can certainly throw your sense of time off a wee bit. However, Brown Eyed Soul managed to rouse me out of my deep slumber to the tell-tale sounds of other guests getting ready to attack their morning. Apprentice was still enjoying her sleep despite my shuffling all around the room sorting out my gear.

By 9ish or so, we were both famished and in the process of making a beeline for the elevator.

Until this stopped us in our tracks:

Hello? What do we have here? What’s on the other side?

We were too flabbergasted with the hotel entrance that we totally missed this view last night.
Well, we were kind of tired and needed to freshen up ASAP πŸ™‚

This was the common area for First Floor:

To the right: Your connection to the world if your smartphone fails you. Beyond that is the gym.
To the left: Self-launder & dry area. Restrooms to the left of this space.
At the end: Meeting room on the right (next to the gym), and a seating area in the middle where one enjoy magazines/ newspapers organized neatly on the shelves.
Another view of the seating area.

Oops. Gastric juices kicking in big time.
Got distracted by the awesome interior fittings (yet again) and it was time to scurry downstairs to enjoy our complimentary breakfast πŸ™‚ yum yum!

Can you believe this vignette sits right in front of the First Floor elevators?
“Good Morning! We’re here to pick up our breakfast voucher for two persons please” πŸ™‚ Vijay, who attended to us, was very friendly and helpful.

There were two restaurants we could have breakfast at: Myth Eatery (western menu) and Old Town Coffee (local menu). Apprentice chose the latter and as we entered into Myth, (warning: Distraction Rearing Its Head) I veered to the right and drooled at their Merchandising section.
Yes, these are retail items and I had an inner debate on whether to get even more tea towels and tote bags that were winking madly at me…

Yes, this IS their merchandising section. I was reminded of our primary objective of being in Myth Eatery by Apprentice.
View from my breakfast nook…
Other fellow guests enjoying the yums and ambiance

Finally!! The AM feast has arrived!

We certainly took our time enjoying our hearty breakfast. Having intermittent appreciation of interior styling played a very big part too!

All I need to do next is to figure out how to get around town via Waze…
