Unintentional Cawfee Break

Posted on Updated on

Little did we know our favorite “docking” spot in town was currently holding C.A.F.F.A = Coffee and Art Fringe Festival Asia 2013.

No wonder parking was a tad difficult to find even at 11am and when we entered into the premises, the aroma of roasted java beans hit our senses Big Time.

Yum Yum Yum Yum!!

Java Joint inside B.I.G

My BFFs from Melbourne arrived on Saturday morning! YAY! Haven’t seen them in quite a while (make that slightly over 2 years) and I look forward to spending quality time while they’re in town… taking into consideration their planned trips outside of KL during their 3-week vacation.

After a long and rather energy-sapping flight from Tullamarine, we stopped by at my favorite “docking bay” in town: Publika! With most of the KL-ites out of town for the impending Chinese New Year celebrations, the place was rather quiet.

No complaints from moi 🙂

Enter the Sssnake

I look forward to sleeping in on Sundays, especially when greyish skies greet me first through the window, promising a lovely rainy spell. Alas, I had to drag my sleepy self out of my cozy bed (and drag Q’s sleepy self by default too) and pick up my new Identity Card at the National Registration Department of Malaysia.

However! My pick up point was only a stone’s throw away from Publika!
YAY!

Thank goodness it took less than half an hour at the Registration Department and within minutes, we were making our way to B.I.G grocers for a decadently “healthy” breakfast :q

Yum yum yum!

The Hunt for Red December

“Jangan Baca” literally means “Don’t Read” in Malay. But you just can’t help but read the rest of it 🙂

‘Twas the weekend before the last F.A.B at Publika in 2012.

Apprentice and I decided to drop by just for the sake of soaking in the “arty mojo” for a much needed spiritual respite. We’ve yet to locate another docking area for such purposes in town, but once we find one, we shall gladly share with the rest of the spiritually tired, hungry and poor 🙂

Speaking of hungry, Apprentice was bordering on crying-my-eyes-out hungry the moment we stepped into the establishment. She had her braces adjusted recently and this time it restricted her chewing capabilities, hence liquid diet for 1.5 days. As a safe transition into minimal chewing mode, we ordered this as her entree:

I Love F.A.T :)

Posted on Updated on

This is probably one of the BEST acronyms I’ve come across to describe an event 🙂 It can even be a screening process for admission into a “cultish” party – “Are you Fashionably Artistic with discerning Taste?” hee hee!

Apprentice and I made a quick pit stop@ Publika over the weekend as F.A.T was the main feature that ran from Friday till Monday. Special mini events were planned since Friday (hmmm, I missed that Looong lunch which was set up on the Runway) and a fashion show on the concourse was Sunday’s Hero.

Alas, we could only stay for a couple of hours at Publika due to an impending wedding lunch we had to attend on the same day.

Of course Fuyoh Art Bazaar was also in full swing at the same time, but their area seemed a tad smaller due to other multiple events that were featured in Publika…

Tricked Than Treated…

Apprentice and I woke up early on Sunday with eagerness to see what our Creative Dock a.k.a Publika would have painted their space with in the name of Halloween. I envisioned Tim Burton’s child-like ghoulish take on cute morbidity or something of kin.

Would there be interesting non-standard Jack O’ Lanterns lining across the Piazza or within the Concourse? And let’s not forget the monthly convergence of wickedly creative people of Fuyoh Art Bazaar!

Day Out with Q & A(pprentice)

Posted on Updated on

It’s a Public Holiday today!

That means the rest of the brood sleeps through the morning until one of them wakes up in time to ask the standard question: “What’s for lunch?” – and that’s usually from my Apprentice 🙂

Since she wasn’t with me when I first ventured into Namoo, she quickly requested for an excursion to Publika. So off we went to our usual creative docking-spot, but this time, we entered via West Gate:

Annyeong Namoo! 🙂

Finally! I get to check out the latest Korean f&b hangout in my neck of the woods. From just the foyer, memories of Hongdae come flooding back and I entered this establishment with a silly grin on my face.

It was too early for lunch, so I quickly settled for my staple snack: cappuccino. And then added an order of sweet potato with mini tteobokki and citrus-laced honey dip on the side. While waiting, I whisked out my constant companion and enthusiastically snapped away from my corner…
